Squirrels Playschool and Daycare centre was established in 1987. Formally known as “Friends Playschool and Daycare centre” we were the first English medium daycare centre in Paarl, catering for children from birth to grade R.

It was in 1997, that we decided on a name change when some of our parents requested that we open a Preparatory School catering for children up to the end of Grade 3. This was when we became known as Squirrels Playgroup and Daycare centre at the Oaks.

After 12 years we have now decided to once again focus on early childhood care and development and will therefore be taking children from birth to 5 years.

Although we were initially an English medium centre, we now have many Afrikaans children in our care. Children are always addressed in their home language, but will come into contact with both English and Afrikaans as all songs, rhymes and instructions are given in both languages.

It is interesting to note that many of our past pupils have gone on to become head boys or head girls of some of our local schools. We have even had the baby of one of our past pupils in our care!!!!

In January 2010 we opened a second centre in Wellington.
